Looking at data provided by the HKSAR Government, the number of Civil Servants engaged has risen to its highest point since 2002. It’s no wonder that, in conjunction, Civil Servant vacancies has also risen to its highest point since 1990 as well.
According to the data set, there were 9450 Civil Servant vacancies in September of 2018. The last time the number of Civil Servant vacancies reached this level was in December of 1990.
The direct cause of this is unknown - but it should come to nobody’s surprise given the increase in border crossings, which fuels hiring for Immigration and Customs related jobs.
